Weekend Vintage: Concert Ready
Going to “rock shows” is my personal vice. I spend way too much money on them, but it is money well spent because they make me endlessly happy. Tonight I will be attending the elusive, solo Jeff Tweedy (Wilco) show at the Vic in Chicago. YAY!!!
One bonus of going to concerts is that it is a bit like a costume party. You can pull out your most outrageous ensemble and be completely appropriate. In my day to day life, my wardrobe is pretty much nerd-chic (I love cardigans. LOVE them.) My concert persona is much cooler. She rocks scandalous boots, skinny jeans that cut off circulation and a smug attitude that will not be rivaled (which is key if you want to blend in with the unhappy, but uber-cool, hipsters.) In actuality, I’m not very cool at all, but I do like to play dress up.
Here are some vintage lovelies with a little boho flair - totally appropriate for tonight’s show.

If you see it in the sun, it’s so.
I’m back guys! (Try to contain yourself.)
It feels like forever since I posted on my blog. The last few months have been nuts, but things are starting to wind down a bit. It was nice to spend some time with my family, move out of my apartment, work on my house and sort of clear my head - but the break is over and it is time to get down to business. I will be updating my shop over the next few weeks - hopefully adding some things, changing some things and trying to get back into the daily blog habit.
Something to look forward to - I got a screen printer for Christmas, so you should see some larger prints in shop soon. I’m excited about moving beyond my dear little gocco, but I won’t abandon her. Along those lines, I bought myself this gorgeous print (1897, Louis Rhead.) “If you see it in THE SUN, it’s so,” is a quote from the infamous newspaper (THE SUN) article that inspired, “Yes, Virginia, There Is a Santa Claus.” But I like to think of it in the literal sense - if you see it in the sun, it’s so. Lovely.

my little wishlist
Wow, tomorrow is December! (And happy belated Thanksgiving by the way! I’m thankful for all of you.) Where has the year gone?? I have been so busy with the house that November just flew by. I did find time to compile a quick list of Etsy things I am loving in a serious way…you know, in case you were wondering what to get me this year.
xoxo.

Etsy Vintage: Mid-Century Home
So I’m days away from officially owning my first home, my own personal piece of “the American dream.” For obvious reasons, I’m stoked; for less obvious reasons, even more so. The house is a traditional 1958 brick ranch - born of an American era of idealism and good design. If you can’t tell from my previous posts, I adore mid-century design and fashion. Everything was so stylish and practical. For that reason, its my intention to return this house to its original form and even improve on that a bit.
This might come off as a bit snobby but its not meant to be. I personally find it is a bit tacky to rush out to your local Home Depot and update a classic home in a lazy, cheap way. I don’t think most people do this intentionally; however, these homes are architectural gems - classic American homes that reflect the values of a period - the integrity of the aesthetic should be upheld to some degree. And that, my friends, is what I’m looking forward to doing with this house. Think color, clean lines, geometry, minimalism, Eames, Herman Miller, scandinavian design, art deco and arts ‘n crafts. Love, love, love. I cannot even tell you what an exciting project this will be. I’ve spent the last two days trying to find an authentic (or at least, appropriate) front door. Its going to be fantastic…
In the meantime, here are some mid-century items from Etsy. When you come visit me, be sure to put on your best full skirt and bring a suitable casserole dish. Of course, I kid.

Etsy {Weds}day: Some Old, Something New…
Wow, it feels like forever since I’ve posted an Etsy {Weds}day collection! I was looking over a few of my past collections and I’ve noticed a trend: I prefer short wedding dresses, I like touches of 50s style, I love a punch of color, I’m not very traditional. So, true to form…here are today’s picks which were loosely chosen around the “something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue” concept. Love ‘em all!

Vintage Love
Here in Wisconsin things have been cooling down and getting almost fall-like. The leaves are even starting to turn a little bit! Its crazy…but I am loving it. I tried to find some apple cider yesterday but its still too early for that. On the other hand, it is a good time to take a look at my summer wardrobe and put together some summer-to-fall outfits…
Here are some vintage Etsy cuties that would work perfectly in this not-very-hot, not-yet-cold weather. Happy September!! xoxo

Etsy {Weds}day: A Touch Rockabilly
Let me just say that I almost bought the dress in today’s feature. I love it. My future wedding dress will be something very, very similar, but I’m just not ready to walk down the aisle yet…and having that adorable dress around might be jumping the gun a tad. And oh…those shoes are stunningly fantastic but alas, my feet are tiny, itty-bitty things that will swim in them. Sigh…
Anyway, all of today’s Etsy {Weds}day picks are a mostly girly, a touch rockabilly and all very classy. I love them.
