To the Woods
*Sigh*…I’m almost there. I’m getting an extended weekend, a minor but totally necessary break from the 9-5 world.
When my friends go on an extended weekend, they go to Vegas; not this girl. I’m fortunate that my family “owns” a small bit of land in western Wisconsin where my dad built a cabin. Its more like a house filled with most modern conveniences (no cable, no cell reception, no internet) but thats irrelevant; its my favorite piece of the planet. Its the kind of place where you can’t see your neighbors because there are acres of hills and forest between you. You look at the sky at night and think, “I had no idea there were so many stars.” You stop to listen and hear nothing. You go exploring in the woods and always find something beautiful. Again, its my most favorite place. One more day and I’m there. In honor of my much anticipated weekend, I’ve chosen some cabin themed items from the depths of Etsy. Check it out!

I know it all sounds so serene and perfect (it really is,) but the rock girl in me might have to give in to the Fever Marlene show Friday night in Madison. That will be sufficient noise for the weekend.
Milwaukee Mixed Tape: 11.26.2008
Milwaukee, as you should know, has a pretty solid music scene. We’ve got great venues and some super stars in our midst. (If you’ve ever seen Kramp, Adler, Scott Starr and Kevin Dunphy hanging out at Yield in their ridiculous but perfectly “rockstar” outfits, you know what I mean.) There are a couple shows in the upcoming week showcasing the aforementioned talent. Its cheap, quality entertainment post turkey and family. I’ll be there, tall boy in in hand.

For good measure, a Milwaukee suggestion for your i-Pod…perhaps you’ll relive a bit of your youth, perhaps new memories will be made:
