This Ain’t No Side Hustle

I came home to a surprise in the mail yesterday - two badass prints from NeuArmy. The icing on their packaging-cake: the tissue paper says - This ain’t no side hustle. Indeed.

For a while now, I have been quietly in love with yoote, the Etsy shop owned by illustrator, Taeeun Yoo. Her illustration and lithography are reminiscent of the books of my childhood - dreamy, nostalgic and wise. I looked further into Taeeun Yoo’s work and story only to find out that she is living the life of my dreams; illustrating in NYC, winning prestigious illustration awards (Ezra Jack Keats Award for Excellence in Children’s Literature,) working on some of the finest publications and projects that the world of illustration has to offer. A few words that come to mind - jealous and profoundly inspired. For just a few minutes, turn off your adult mind and get lost in the magical optimism of a children’s book.

Visit Taeeun Yoo’s website for more of her work!

WhatParty on Etsy

Stephanie Tillman’s WhatParty has had me cracking up for the last few days. I love the contradiction of embroidery and snarky humor. I love it so much, in fact, that I bought one of these lovelies for my living room. I read Stephanie’s bio and decided, yes - I think we could be friends.

“My name is Stephanie Tillman and I embroider from New York, London and Jacksonville. I love embroidering things that make me laugh, and I probably drink too much. I’m trying to figure out how to work my brand new embroidery machine so I can spend more time outside.”

Here are some of my faves from WhatParty…LOLs.

Do You Live in a Happy City?

Loving these cut paper pieces from Hort Illustration for enRoute Magazine (via e-sushi.) They certainly imply a happy, happy city - wish I was riding my bike through Central Park right now!

Birthday Gift to Me!

Look at this adorable dress I bought from Anthro! I got a brand new fall riding jacket, too - fall fashion is the best.

Twin Shadow - Slow

Really loving Twin Shadow. Don’t be deceived by the - um - creep factor of the video. It is a jam worthy of your time. If you find that you are down with their sound, check out “I Can’t Wait.” It is an amazing addition to your summer soundtrack.

Barbershop Quartet Dress!

I’m in love. I saw this dress on Etsy about a week ago in violetvillevintage’s shop. I couldn’t handle it anymore - had to get it! The best part is that the print is a barbershop quartet - how adorable is that?! I don’t think I have to worry about wearing the same thing as anyone else. :) Can’t wait for it to arrive.
