Weird Science

Well, it has been a while! Forgive me. I have been busy partaking in all that the summer has to offer - travel, food, family, housework, etc. It has been lovely.

Alas, all things come to an end; I am returning to the world of the working in a few days - as a 7th grade science teacher! Earth science teacher to be exact. How cool is that? It is mega-nerdy and super-awesome all at once. I can’t wait. Here are a few science-ish things that would look great in my class!

State Fair

Another reminder that summer is coming to a close: State Fair! A visit to the fair is always entertaining. Some of the highlights here in Wisconsin are the piglet races, cream puffs (YUM) and all the dairy products from around the state (we are the Dairy State, if you didn’t know.) It usually makes for a fun, food-filled time - a perfect way to wrap up festival season. Here are some appropriate Etsy finds!

Weekend Vintage: Summer Winding Down

This week I started to feel like fall was close. I’m really ready for it, actually - but in the meantime, I will be making the most of these last few weeks of summer. Here are some pieces that will transition with us all into fall.

Twin Shadow - Slow

Really loving Twin Shadow. Don’t be deceived by the - um - creep factor of the video. It is a jam worthy of your time. If you find that you are down with their sound, check out “I Can’t Wait.” It is an amazing addition to your summer soundtrack.

Weekend Vintage: GermanFest

Another one of my favorite weekends - GermanFest in Milwaukee!! Beer, brats and girls with braids in their hair - my kind of time. Here are some vintage finds from Etsy that fit the occasion - Prost!

Barbershop Quartet Dress!

I’m in love. I saw this dress on Etsy about a week ago in violetvillevintage’s shop. I couldn’t handle it anymore - had to get it! The best part is that the print is a barbershop quartet - how adorable is that?! I don’t think I have to worry about wearing the same thing as anyone else. :) Can’t wait for it to arrive.

Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros - Take Away Show

Two things I love: Take Away Shows from la blogotheque and Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros. This is so great - I kind of hate that I wasn’t there! Oh well, here is the next best thing:

Just wanted to share a little jam with you guys. There is a lot of awesome happening here. Gayngs is an indie mega group including the likes of Justin Vernon (Bon Iver,) members of Solid Gold, members of Megafaun and about 15 other artists from the midwest. Another interesting bit of trivia: the theme of this Minneapolis show was “The Last Prom on Earth” - which is sort of frightening.

The vid is an eight minute commitment, but if you’re in the mood for a slow jam - the eight minutes is worth it. Love it.
