This is fascinating. I cannot stop listening to it…really beautiful and surprisingly spiritual to me. Love.
Etsy Vintage: Mid-Century Home
So I’m days away from officially owning my first home, my own personal piece of “the American dream.” For obvious reasons, I’m stoked; for less obvious reasons, even more so. The house is a traditional 1958 brick ranch - born of an American era of idealism and good design. If you can’t tell from my previous posts, I adore mid-century design and fashion. Everything was so stylish and practical. For that reason, its my intention to return this house to its original form and even improve on that a bit.
This might come off as a bit snobby but its not meant to be. I personally find it is a bit tacky to rush out to your local Home Depot and update a classic home in a lazy, cheap way. I don’t think most people do this intentionally; however, these homes are architectural gems - classic American homes that reflect the values of a period - the integrity of the aesthetic should be upheld to some degree. And that, my friends, is what I’m looking forward to doing with this house. Think color, clean lines, geometry, minimalism, Eames, Herman Miller, scandinavian design, art deco and arts ‘n crafts. Love, love, love. I cannot even tell you what an exciting project this will be. I’ve spent the last two days trying to find an authentic (or at least, appropriate) front door. Its going to be fantastic…
In the meantime, here are some mid-century items from Etsy. When you come visit me, be sure to put on your best full skirt and bring a suitable casserole dish. Of course, I kid.

Noel Gallagher: There Is A Light That Never Goes Out
Sorry guys, audio only. Check out Noel Gallagher’s really beautiful version of The Smiths, There Is A Light That Never Goes Out. Its such a shame about those Gallagher boys “throwing it all away” as they might say. xoxo.

Polly Paulusma - The Woods
The video by Rima Staines is gorgeous and a touch scary. I feel like the music would have been a better match to the art if they had taken a more lo-fi approach…but alas, I’m no producer.
Oooh Fall…I love you.
Its almost here…I love that its starting to smell like leaves. Here are some Etsy cuties that would be just perfect for the transition to fall. Jewel tones, upcycled pieces, warm legs…love, love, love.

Hooray for birthdays!
OK, I’m jumping the gun a tiny bit. Today is not my birthday, but tomorrow is! I will be a whopping 28 years old - which is really wild to me because I remember when my parents were 28. I cannot believe how fast time goes by. Better make the most of it!
As for birthday plans, I’m hoping the day is filled with lots of pink frosting, pretty dresses and maybe a margarita or two with friends and fam. Cheers! xoxo…

How about a jam for the big day? Loving this…been playing it in my car all week. (Sorry, audio only…but so worth it.)

Hope you’re all enjoying this gorgeous Monday Labor Day. I’m off to a family cookout, but I’ll leave you with these jems from Sin Fang Bous (see: Seabear.) Loads of layers, textures, feelings here. Even if you can’t get into the sort of progressive sound, you have to love these videos. xoxo.
To the woods…
I’ve got this long, Labor Day weekend in front of me and I’m taking it to the woods. I’ll miss you all, so I’m leaving you with a gift…xoxo
Roads…
I don’t mean to be so dramatic on a Thursday morning, but…sometimes I need something with substance, emotion, intellect. My substance came in the form of Portishead today. Love.
Etsy {Weds}day: Some Old, Something New…
Wow, it feels like forever since I’ve posted an Etsy {Weds}day collection! I was looking over a few of my past collections and I’ve noticed a trend: I prefer short wedding dresses, I like touches of 50s style, I love a punch of color, I’m not very traditional. So, true to form…here are today’s picks which were loosely chosen around the “something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue” concept. Love ‘em all!
