Hello, Broadway Paper
I’ve been in love with Broadway Paper, a Milwaukee Third Ward gem, for years now. If you appreciate the tactile experience of fine paper, the sound of heels on a hardwood floor and the visual/emotional journey of good design…well…you’d love Broadway Paper too. It is a fabulous experience from start to finish, not to mention that they have the best wrapping paper and card selection this side of the Mississippi.
That said, imagine my surprise when Broadway Paper owner, Tracie, contacted me with a request to carry some PaperMichelle designs. After the initial disbelief…I cried, sobbed, laughed and thought…”Oh gosh, I have obligations to someone!” Gulp. I immediately packed up some of my little darlings, wrapped them in plum tissue paper and sent them off to their new home.
In honor of this milestone, my personal photographer (cough, cough…boyfriend) and I took a field trip to visit the babies at Broadway Paper. We brought the super-serious camera and snapped many a photograph. (I think we freaked out a couple customers that thought they were in the middle of a photo shoot…sorry, BP!) It was a blast, however surreal. I was absolutely thrilled to see the cards hanging out in such a beautiful shop. In fact, I can’t think of a better place for them.
Please check out Broadway Paper’s website here.
Feelin’ the Love
Its fun to stumble across your own items while checking out someone’s website. Thats exactly what happened this morning (with a little help from my analytics) when I checked out CasaSugar. They included “Nuts for You” in their card shop, Creature Feature.

(Valentine’s Day Love Birds by papertigerdesigns. Cute Etsy shop!)
Check it out and show the other cards some love. You might just find a last minute Valentine.
Handmade Nation Premiere
Handmade Nation, a documentary based on a book of the same name, will be premiering at the Oriental Theatre tonight. The book and the movie emphasize the building movement of DIY, Arts, Crafts and Design in modern culture. It showcases the stories, techniques and works of artists and crafters from around the country that is the “handmade nation.” I’m thoroughly excited.
The premiere is Feb 5th at 7PM, $10/ticket. Be there.
Food fantastic!
It never ceases to amaze me how many talented and interesting people are out there!
While perusing the jungle that is Etsy, I stumbled upon a shop that would be perfect for a treasury I was building based on guacamole. FLYoungstudio (the work of Heather L. Young, paint foodie) is filled with fantastic original prints of garden worthy veggies, exotic fruits and the occasional jello mold. I love, love, love the vibrant colors in her work.
Heather kindly featured some of my Valentine’s Day designs in her blog, A Litle Rhinestone Never Hurt Anybody. Please visit her there and perhaps you’ll find something yummy to dress up your walls.
